Welcome

Bonjour! Welcome to Horn Lake High School! I am thrilled to be teaching HLHS this year and would like to invite you to share this exciting experience with me.

I'm also excited about Schoology, the online learning platform that both virtual and on-campus students will be using this semester! Follow the link below to reach the log-in page:

You may also email me with questions, whether in-person or virtual. My planning is from 9:13-10:36 AM. You may email me at other times, as well, but it may be more difficult for me to respond immediately. However, I will always do my best to answer your questions in as timely a manner as possible.

About the Teacher

Bonjour, tout le monde! Guten Tag, meine Damen und Herren! My name is Stephanie Daugherty, and I am honored to be the French and German instructor at Horn Lake High School. I grew up in the hills of northeast Tennessee, near Kingsport's Eastman Chemical Company and the Bristol Motor Speedway. Just before my sophomore year of high school, my family moved to Huntsville, AL so that my stepfather could take a job there. At the time, Buckhorn High School offered two foreign language options: French and Spanish. I took French because it was the less crowded of the two subjects and immediately fell in love with it (it helped that I had a wonderful teacher; salut, Mme Solberg!). My stepfather was the one who convinced me to pursue my French studies at Mississippi State University, where I earned a Bachelor's and a Master's in Foreign Language with concentrations in French and German. After teaching at MSU for five years as a Lecturer, I decided to explore a career in secondary education. Et voilà! Me voici! Hier bin ich! (Here I am!)
