Close up of Mrs. Thompson

Mrs. Janna Thompson, Asst. Principal

As a seventeen-year veteran, I enjoy all the aspects of facilitating, leading, and growing along with the education process. I have had the opportunity to teach multiple Math courses where I have planned and executed diverse lessons.  My experience coaching basketball has been a great way to practice communication and leadership. As a lifetime learner, I like to stay abreast of the newest standards and techniques, while collaborating with co-workers.  Aside of my faith, I enjoy spending time with son Jaydon and husband Jason.

Mr. Wiley Maddox, Asst. Principal

I was born and raised in Bruce, Mississippi. I graduated from Bruce High School in 2012 and went to East Mississippi Community College where I played football for two years. After graduating from EMCC in the winter of 2013, I continued my education at Mississippi State University. At MSU I majored in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies and graduated in 2016. In the Spring of 2022, I graduated from The University of Mississippi with a master's degree in Educational Leadership.

I taught English and coached football and baseball in Quitman County, Mississippi, at Madison Palmer High School after college. After one year, I returned to Bruce and taught a variety of social studies classes and coached football and tennis.

After three years in Bruce, my wife was hired by International Paper in Memphis, and we moved to DeSoto County. I taught English and coached tennis at Lake Cormorant High for two years.

I am excited to be a part of the Horn Lake family!
