Welcome

SalvÄ“!  I am so excited to be teaching at Horn Lake High School!  This is my 22nd year to teach and my 14th year at Horn Lake.  I love teaching, and I am excited to have a new group of students interested in Latin and Mississippi Writers this year!

I took 2 years of Latin in high school, and then I minored in Classics with an emphasis in Latin while an undergraduate at Ole Miss. I was an English major and took several classes that focused on the writing of Southern authors. I continued my studies at Mississippi University for Women where I received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.

I am married to my high school sweetheart. Mr. Jolly is an attorney in Hernando, and we have two children: Ben, who is in 9th grade and Emma, who is in 6th grade. We also have two cats, Shadow and Boo! My hobbies outside school include exercising, reading, and cooking.

About the Teacher

Education

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Mississippi in 2001. My minor was Classics, with an emphasis in Latin. After graduating from Ole Miss, I started working on a Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Mississippi University for Women. I received my MAT degree in 2004.

My certification areas include English 7-12, Latin K-12, and Mild to Moderate Disabilities K-12.

Experience

I started teaching English and Latin at a small private school in 2002, in my hometown of Columbus, MS. I moved to Philadelphia, MS, in 2005, and worked as a classroom English tutor at Choctaw Central High School, the high school operated by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

In 2006, I began working for Neshoba Central Middle School, where I was an English teacher and a Special Education teacher.

I started working at Horn Lake High School in January 2010.  I taught Special Education Math for one semester.  For the past 13 years, I have taught English and Latin.
